Michigan House Bills 6094 and 6095
Reduced PIP, Fee Schedules and Attendant Care Legislation Introduced in Michigan House of Representatives
On April 29, 2010, House Bills 6094 and 6095 were introduced by Representative Pete Lund (R) and referred on to the House Insurance Committee. These bills propose to allow drivers to purchase less Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage, reduce payments to providers of care for therapy and other rehabilitation services, and lastly, significantly reduce the payment rates and number of payable hours for families and for professional caregivers providing in-home care.
ACTION ALERT
The negative impact of this type of legislation on those catastrophically injured would be significant.
In addition, we would anticipate a cost shift to Medicaid, increased taxes, job losses, and increased litigation.
