Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers, Inc. Acquires Functional Recovery, Inc.
YPSILANTI, Mich. Feb. 9, 2009 —Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers, Inc. a southeastern-Michigan based provider of brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation services for children, teens and adults, has purchased the assets of Functional Recovery, Inc. Char Combs, former president and owner of Functional Recovery, will join Rainbow as the new program director of the Functional Recovery Division.
Functional Recovery, a home and community-based professional therapy services firm based in Grand Blanc, Mich., serves people with brain injuries throughout Genesee, Macomb and Oakland Counties.
Bill Buccalo, president of Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers, said he “sees this acquisition as an opportunity for Rainbow to enter fully into home-and-community based treatment with a known and respected industry leader. We are also very excited to have the opportunity to work with Char Combs and her therapy teams. This endeavor will assist with our planned growth by expanding our therapeutic continuum, and expanding our regional reach.”
For the past 12 years, Functional Recovery has had teams of physical, occupational, and speech therapists who serve clients in their own homes and in the community. Functional Recovery will be integrated into Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers as a new division of home care services. The Functional Recovery philosophy and team approach of integrating the clients fully into real life settings and activities matches well with Rainbow’s philosophy.
