In their own words, employees offer insight into the benefits of working at Rainbow.
I have been employed at Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers for 11 years. Rainbow provided me with the training and skills that I needed to provided excellent care for our clients. Rainbow has given me such a great opportunity to learn and grow. They equipped me with hands-on training in both the medical and behavior programs by working closely with the treatment teams, which include registered nurses, case managers and mental health to name just a few. Once I gained the confidence, the skills and abilities needed, I became a team leader and I also participated in the Managers in Training program.
So, if your desire is to help others while investing in yourself without limits or restraints, you will grow as an employee at Rainbow. So I encourage you to make a difference in the life of others as well as yours.
When I started with the company four years ago, I was hired in as a receptionist and was the social outlet for all employees. I got to know everyone by talking to them each day, whether it was on the phone or in person. Last year, I was promoted to Administrative Assistant and was lucky enough to stay in the Clerical Department. Though I don’t work directly with the clients, they are still an integral part of my job and I can still observe progress made throughout their time here at Rainbow. It’s a great thing to see someone arrive in a wheelchair and leave the facility able to walk. This job has been an amazing experience and I am honored to be a part of a wonderful team that supports one another and believes that the clients are the main success of this company.
I started with Rainbow in April of 2000. I had no other prior TBI experience. However, due to the overwhelming support of my fellow case managers, therapists and supervisors, I found it to be an easy transition and most of all a wonderful experience.
The two best things about Rainbow are their unsurpassed commitment to the care of their clients, and the support that professional staffs give to each other both on a personal and professional level.
Recently, I was promoted to a Division Director in Training, which was very exciting for me having just earned my Ph.D. in Psychology. I look forward to starting my new role and being part of an organization that is constantly evolving and improving customer care.
Mary Newton, Ph.D., LMSW, CBIS
Case Manager/Psychologist/Social Worker
Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers is an amazing place to work, and they have been amazing to me. I started as an OT with five years of neuro experience in 2000. The Semi-Independent Apartment Program in Ann Arbor, MI, is where I have worked for 11 years now. It is a great environment – our clients are in rented apartments in an apartment complex five minutes from downtown Ann Arbor. They are not sequestered in a nursing home or similar housing unit and isolated from the community.
Last year, I took over for another long-term employee as case manager at the Apartment Program when she retired. I enjoy the mix of OT and case management skills that are necessary for the position. I have recently taken the preliminary steps of transitioning in to a divisional director. I am currently in training.
Rainbow has given me the opportunity to grow as an OT, develop a new skill set as a case manager, and now to learn the ropes to transition in to a divisional director. This company has provided me with many opportunities to try new things and hone my skills. This is invaluable.
Divisional Director in Training
I have been with Rainbow for nearly two years, and where do I begin to explain why I love my job! It can be very challenging work but very rewarding. For example, seeing a client do something that they haven’t been able to do in a long time, like feeding themself, and knowing that you helped them reach this achievement.
There is always room for growth. I was a rehabilitation assistant for a while and recently I have become a team leader. I’ve already had a few people approach me for the Manager in Training program, after I get some more time under my belt as a team leader you can bet I’ll go for it!
All around this is a great company to work for and be a client at as well; you’re always being recognized for the work you do, and it makes you want to do even more!
