Rehabilitation is often complicated when children display inappropriate or dangerous behaviors due to brain injury. These behaviors can interfere with needed therapies and the ability to progress. Some of these behaviors can include:

  • Physical aggression
  • Self-inflicted harm
  • Impulsivity
  • Negative social behaviors
  • Property destruction
  • Verbal aggression
  • Poor judgment
  • Substance seeking
  • Sexual disinhibition

Rainbow's Neuro-Behavioral Program helps children and adolescents with moderate to severe behavioral difficulties. This is made possible with structured programming and staff specially trained in behavior modification techniques – principles involving positive reinforcement, peer monitoring and modeling. Educational support and/or vocational training (when age appropriate) are provided, as well as substance abuse counseling when necessary.

Rainbow's Neuro-Behavioral Program offers:

  • Direction by a Ph.D.-level psychologist
  • Mental health professionals, case managers, program directors and nurses on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Residences with alarms to control elopement
  • Routine safety checks to rid our homes of hazards
  • Substance abuse counseling groups
  • Strong relationships with area schools, hospitals and judicial systems
  • Vocational services (offered when age appropriate)
