To Our Valued Clients, Family Members, Employees and Stakeholders:

COVID-19 Status Update – Rainbow was notified last night and this morning that one employee and one residential client in Washtenaw County have recently tested positive for COVID-19. Our team has notified affected residents, employees, and family contacts and are working through ongoing contact tracing. Additionally, enhanced precautions have been implemented including in-home quarantine and use of additional protective equipment. Clients and staff in affected areas are being tested.

With the recent increase in COVID-19 cases throughout Michigan, we remain vigilant in our efforts to educate employees and clients, follow sound recommendations, and screen everyone daily.

Visitation Update – Over the weekend, Oakland and Wayne Counties were added to the “E” risk classification recently rolled out by the State’s Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). This is the highest COVID-19 risk category, joining Genesee, Washtenaw, and the majority of Michigan counties (60 of 83 Michigan counties are now in the “E” risk level).

All Rainbow homes are currently in counties with an E risk level, which prohibits any indoor visitation, aside from critical situations.  Due to the overall level of rising COVID-19 in our counties, we are limiting all outdoor in-person visits unless absolutely necessary, and only if the visit meets the MDHHS criteria.

Leave of Absence (LOA) should be suspended at this time, again, unless absolutely necessary. We continue to encourage visits electronically through Skype, Facetime, and other means.

New Testing Requirements – On October 28, the MDHHS issued a new order regarding testing requirements in Skilled Nursing Facilities, Homes for the Aged, and Adult Foster Care homes with 13 or more residents. This new order requires these facilities to routinely test both residents and staff in certain situations. Effective dates for Rainbow’s locations that are 13 or more residents begin no later than November 24, 2020. We will have further updates on our plans for compliance with this new order in the coming weeks.

We will continue to keep you updated. Please do not hesitate to contact your Rainbow Case Manager or Rainbow Administration with your comments or questions. We will get through this together.
