Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers has developed a new Women’s Health Outpatient Program that features pelvic floor therapies. Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation is a treatment approach that uses the principles of physical therapy to provide a structured, effective, and safe reconditioning of pelvic floor muscles. The goal of the treatment is to improve the strength and function of the pelvic floor muscles, alleviate pain, weakness, and dysfunction in the muscles.
Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation can help with pelvic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction/weakness, urinary incontinence (frequency and urgency), painful urination, diastasis recti, interstitial cystitis, dyspareunia (painful intercourse/pain in the genital area), constipation, sciatica and sacroiliac dysfunction, pre- and post-natal pregnancy related and post-cesarean recovery, pelvic organ prolapse, and other diagnosis.
Through a comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan, our trained and experienced therapists will complete your pelvic floor training by identifying any short, weak and lengthened muscles. Therapeutic stretches, followed by localized training and relaxation techniques are used to strengthen muscles, alleviate contractions, and decrease pain. Rainbow’s therapists will also work with you on the integration of movements into activities of daily living. Additionally, pelvic floor rehabilitation utilizes biofeedback, electrical stimulation, and pelvic tools as needed to ease the pain associated with your symptoms in order to restore normal function.
The Women’s Health Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation program is offered at all of our outpatient locations in Farmington, Farmington Hills, Waterford, Ypsilanti and Flint.
