Rainbow recently held a water bottle drive to help our Rainbow clients, employees and their families during the Flint Water Crisis. It was estimated that nearly 30 families of clients and employees at Rainbow’s Genesee Treatment Center needed our help as they live in areas that are served by the Flint water system. (The treatment center itself is not on the Flint water system.)

Employees from Farmington Hills and Ypsilanti Treatment Centers pose with their donation.
The NeuroRehab Campus® sent about 30 cases of water, 20 one gallon containers and five two and a half gallon containers. Employees at the Ypsilanti Treatment Center sent 15 cases and a one gallon container. They also raised $121 from a bake sale that went to water. With a generous donation from Dr. Heidi Reyst, the money was used to buy 53 more cases.
The Oakland Treatment Center donated four cases and six containers, as well as a monetary donation.
The Livonia Corporate Center sent about 25-30 cases. The Farmington Hills Treatment Center collected almost 20 cases/bottles of water. Nine cases came from the Garden City Apartments.
We collected over 160 cases and 30 containers in total. We blew away our goal of 90 cases.
Thanks go out to:
- Terrell Blazier and Kevin Kalis for coordinating the delivery of water to the Genesee Treatment Center.
- Tresa Ellis, Susan Gibbons, Roslyn Watson, Darlene Townsend, Jessica Adams, Barry Marshall and Sheryl Carpenter for coordinating donations at each center.
- And everyone who made a donation!
The families at the Genesee Treatment Center are very appreciative of our efforts. We received an email from an employee at the center who said, “As an employee who lives in Flint this truly means a lot to me and my family. Thank you so much!!!”
