Cycling is the leading cause of sports-related head injuries in children under 14*
Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers is hosting two bike fair events to promote bike safety. The events will take place at Rainbow’s Genesee Treatment Center on Saturday, May 10 and Rainbow’s Oakland treatment center on Saturday, May 17. These bike fairs are just one of the many ways Rainbow is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its pediatric program.
Both events will feature:
- A “safety town” style obstacle course demonstration to allow kids to learn and practice safe bicycling techniques.
- Bike helmet fittings and inspections to educate riders on proper helmet use to help provide the best protection against concussions in the event of an accident.
- Bicycle inspections to check the safety and road-readiness of any bicycle brought by attendees.
- A bike parade at 11:45 a.m. for all participants.
- Drawings to win prizes
The first 500 attendees at both events will receive a free water bottle.
First-aid demonstrations and trainings will also be featured at the Genesee County event to arm riders with the knowledge of what to do if someone requires medical attention.
All media inquiries and interview requests for the Genesee County fair may be sent to Fair Sponsor and Organizer Derica Scribner, at firstname.lastname@example.org or at Rainbow’s Genesee Treatment Center, 810.603.0040.
